Your face is your visage to the world and it is the first thing that people notice and gives a lasting impression of who you are. It can also belie who we really are.
As we age and the lines and creases begin to creep in, we can begin to look tired, unhappy, or sad. Weight loss, weight gain, stress, diet, and sun exposure often takes a toll on our skin, making us look older than we really are.
Dr. Rodrigues can help erase years from your appearance with a variety of rejuvenative techniques and procedures that range from temporary to long-lasting, and many are non-invasive:
- Ear Pinning Surgery (Otoplasty)
- Eyelid Surgery
- Facial Implants
- Fat Transfer to the Face
- Revision Rhinoplasty
Dr. Rodrigues will be happy to consult with you personally to help you choose which treatment option best suits your desired result.
Forehead creases, furrowed brows, and lines around the eyes can make us look older than we are. If your friends and family constantly ask if you’re angry or upset when the reality is that you’ve never felt happier, you may want to consider a Browlift procedure. A Browlift procedure can help erase those worry lines and rejuvenate the face for a more youthful and attractive appearance.
The ideal candidates for a Brow Lift are those who have lines or deep creases on the forehead, who are in good health and do not smoke.
There are two techniques commonly used for a Browlift:
- Traditional Brow lift: Conventional methods, in which the incision is hidden beneath the hairline.
- Endoscopically: A tiny camera and instruments are inserted through a few small incisions to resculpt the muscles above the eyebrows.
With either method, you may experience some numbness and discomfort at the incision. You will be on your feet again within a day or two and many patients are able to return to their normal activities in a week to ten days. Any swelling and bruising should disappear after a few weeks.
Dr. Rodrigues will be happy to personally consult with you to explore the options to achieve your desired result.
Ear Pinning Surgery (Otoplasty)
Otoplasty, otherwise knows as “Ear Pinning Surgery” is the cosmetic correction of ears that protrude or stick out. This surgery is most commonly performed on children before they enter school to help prevent damage to a young child’s developing ego from teasing and ridicule. Dr. Rodrigues has a soft spot for kids and will gently counsel children and their parents on corrective treatment when the time is right.
Adults also are candidates for otoplasty. such as when an ear becomes disfigured by injury or it develops disproportionately. Otoplasty can improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear and correct a defect in the ear structure that is present at birth.
Ideally children should be at least 5 years old, cooperative, and amenable to the idea of undergoing surgery. Healthy teens and adults who are generally healthy, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations of the result are also good candidates for otoplasty.
Under either general or local anesthesia, Dr. Rodrigues will make incisions on the back of the ear(s), then place permanent internal stitches to hold the ears in their new positions.
Following surgery, patients wear special dressings to hold the ears in place while the incisions heal.
If you have loose skin or large amounts of fatty deposits on your upper eyelids and in the areas around your eyes, you might look tired or sleepy even when you aren’t. Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery, known as blepharoplasty will rejuvenate your upper and/or lower eyelids and surrounding areas leaving you looking rested, refreshed and more youthful.
If you are in overall good health, have droopy or baggy eyelids, do not smoke, and have a health attitude about your desired results, you might be an excellent candidate for Eyelid Surgery.
Dr. Rodrigues will remove excess fat deposits from your eyelids and reposition it in areas where needed. He will then tighten your eye muscles and remove excess skin around your eyelids, suture the incisions, and apply sterile dressings.
It is common to experience swelling, bruising and irritation around the eyelids the several days after surgery. Another common symptom during recovery includes dry eyes, which should diminish during the first week. Any scarring will gradually fade over the next several months to a year.
Dr. Rodrigues will be happy to consult with you personally to help you decide if Eyelid Surgery is the best option for your desired result.
Sagging cheeks, a crease here and there, puffiness that doesn’t go away… all are signs that we’re no longer fresh-faced thirty-somethings. Disproportionate facial features can cause a person to have reduced self-esteem and low self-confidence. A recessed chin, flat cheeks, or an undefined jaw are all things that can be corrected with facial implants. While nearly any area of your face can be augmented with facial implants, the cheekbones, chin and jaw are the most common sites for augmentation.
Facial implants create balance and add proportion to the structural appearance of your face and add definition to your features. With facial implant surgery, the results are immediate.
Plastic surgery with facial implants is best performed on people whose head and skull have reached physical maturity, which generally occurs in late adolescence. This procedure is a good option for you if you are physically healthy, you do not smoke and you maintain a positive outlook and have specific goals in mind for the improvement of your facial contours.
